Affirmations in the martial arts will help bring you to the peak of your abilities. What are affirmations? They are those positive things you say to yourself before, during, and after training or competing in martial arts.

Affirmations have been used for many years in every aspect of life to increase a person’s ability to do something he or she sets out to do. Athletes use them to pump themselves up for competition. Students use them to trigger good performance on tests, Business people use them to get ready for important presentations.

Affirmations in the martial arts increase your motivation to do the sometimes tiring, but always necessary, practicing to sharpen your skill. They increase your belief in yourself and your ability to get better and better in the martial arts.

Telling yourself over and over again these positive statements drives them deep into this part of your mind where they’ll be available for your use when you need them without having to think about them. Your subconscious mind accepts these statements as true and uses them to increase your confidence in your abilities.

This process is almost like a form of self-hypnosis.
